Background of Faculty of Humanities 

The Faculty of Humanities, established in 1963 (B.E. 2506), was previously named ‘the Faculty of Southeast Asia’. The purpose of faculty establishment was to provide education on the history, religions, cultures, traditions and languages of Southeast Asian countries so that this is beneficial to Buddhism propagation in the countries. In 1962 (B.E. 2507), the Faculty of Southeast Asia had its name changed to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences so that more subjects in the areas of humanities and social sciences could be inserted into the courses. This was beneficial to the lay students; at the same time, it was advantageous for monks and novices in the way that they can carry out their monastic duties with the real socialization experience with the lay supporters. Twenty years later, in 1984 (B.E. 2527), MCU divided the Faculty (Humanities and Social Sciences) into two: Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Social Sciences. While the Faculty of Humanities takes responsibility over the subjects related to languages, history and psychology, the Faculty of Social Sciences deals with the subjects related to society.

Vision

• - To be a center of Buddhist studies
• -              To produce graduates with knowledge in Buddhism and able to integrate with Thai, English, Buddhist psychology, and psychology.
• - To produce graduates with morality and ethics as well as potential to develop oneself, communities, society, and the country.

Identity of the Faculty

• - To organize education and academic services on Buddhism integrated with Thai, English, and psychology.
• - To apply the Threefold Training integrated with Thai, English, and psychology to develop society.

Identity of Graduates

• - have all-round knowledge in Buddhism, Thai, English, psychology, as well as to be a volunteer in developing the society.
